In other news, I have been weighing the pros and cons of attending Mysterium this year, and things aren't looking too good- especially seeing how the more time I spend deliberating, the higher the costs become for plane tickets! My dad has already made it clear that he'd be more than happy to fund the trip and even come with me to Chicago, but I feel as if my interest in attending is waning as the weeks go by. I'd love to meet up with everyone and I've been slowly building a presentation of my Myst art/comics/designs that most everyone has yet to see, but other that that, well, meh. The Mysterium site is still without a finalized itinerary, so I feel like committing without even knowing what I'm committing to would be a bit rash, and I'd hate to end up rushing my presentation when I could just as well wait around for another gathering to show it off. Whatever that gathering may be. Sigh.
I hold nothing against the Mysterium committee, but the more complicated Mysterium planning issues become the more I consider proposing a smaller, more personal summer gathering of my own. I know it's a bit early to start thinking about next summer, but I'd love the chance to get together with some Myst fans in Las Vegas and drive up to Zion or Bryce National Parks for a weekend... The rates at the Bryce lodge are more than manageable, and it'd be an opportunity to spend time hanging out, getting to know eachother, and appreciating what inspired Myst in the first place. You know, nature. And stuff.
But I'm getting ahead of myself! Still it's something to consider, as there's nothing I'd love more than hiking and chatting with my Myst brethren. Hm.
